Diatomaceous Earth Uses

We have compiled over 15 years of experience with diatomaceous earth (DE).  Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring substance made from the fossilized remains of diatoms.  This information comes from our personal use and also the tens of thousands of individuals, families, pet owners, and gardeners alike.  We pride ourselves on making sure we provide the best and most accurate information regarding the benefits of it.

Our products have a ton of benefits and we want to make sure you are well aware of it all, explained in a simple and easy to read fashion.  Click on the underlined links in each section to be directed to a page specific to what you are looking for.  You are MORE than welcome to give us a call at 1-800-228-5836 or email us at info@earthworkshealth.com to talk with us about these uses.  You can also simply go to the contact page to send us a message too!

Although you will find many claims about long term health benefits for humans, like it kills parasites when mixed with water and drank or that it reduces blood cholesterol levels, we do not market our diatomaceous earth products for that reason and will not without proper medical studies and approvals to do so.  However, we do offer the purest food grade diatomaceous earth known to man that is NON-GMO.

What is Diatomaceous Earth?

It is a naturally occurring, sedimentary rock-like substance composed of the fossilized remains of tiny aquatic organisms called diatoms, found in lakes and oceans. DE forms when the diatom synthesizes minerals and other heavy metals from water, through its cell walls. These microscopic algae have hard, silica-based shells that accumulate on the ocean floor over millions of years. When extracted and processed, it becomes a fine, white powder with numerous practical applications.  In its crystalline form, silica, is known as quartz and is in high quantities in filter grade DE.  However, our food grade diatomaceous earth contains very small amounts of crystalline silica.  These amounts are WELL below the toxic limit set forth by the FDA.  Either naturally or man made techniques are used to create types of silicon dioxide.  This process forms crystalline and amorphous silicon dioxide.

DE is primarily known for its versatility, with uses ranging from natural insecticide and pest control to a filtering agent in various industries, including food and beverage production and water purification. Additionally, it's valued for its abrasive qualities, making it a key ingredient in many household cleaning products. Due to its natural origin, this is considered an environmentally friendly and non-toxic alternative for various purposes. Whether it's improving garden soil, safeguarding against pests, or enhancing filtration processes, DE is a multi-faceted, eco-friendly material with an array of practical uses.  For a more comprehensive look at applying diatomaceous earth and what is diatomaceous earth, please click the underlined link.
